JAMSHID JAHEDI  PHD, PE, SE, RA, LEED-AP

“Clients and colleagues often ask me what separates me from other engineering professionals. The answer is simple: more than three decades of interweaving architectural and engineering problem solving, drives my passion to offer exceptional services.”
Education: PhD in Structural Engineering, MS in Civil Engineering, MS and BS in Architecture

After Dr. Jahedi obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Architecture from the National University of Iran in Tehran, he established Padia Consulting Architects. Many residential and office buildings, a school, a tourist facility and a religious complex were produced during the next three years where Dr. Jahedi served as the architect, project manager and office manager.

To expand his experience and knowledge, Dr. Jahedi immigrated to the U.S. in 1979 where he received an MS degree in Civil Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago. He pursued his doctorate degree there while working as a part-time instructor and research assistant.

Dr. Jahedi continued his professional design career with Sargent and Lundy Engineers. He designed structural systems for the nuclear power industry and worked with the Engineering Mechanics Division as a piping stress analyst. After earning his PhD in Structural Engineering, Dr. Jahedi was granted a lifetime membership to Chi Epsilon, the National Civil Engineering Honor Society. Dr. Jahedi then joined R.T. Patterson Company where he practiced both architecture and engineering while designing a number of buildings and structures for the U.S. government and industry.

Dr. Jahedi made time to become a licensed Professional Engineer (PE), a licensed Registered Architect (RA) and a licensed Structural Engineer (SE).

In 1992, Dr. Jahedi established Dome Designers, Inc., a consulting engineering firm that serves industrial, commercial and residential clients. In addition to heading Dome Designers, Dr. Jahedi became an adjunct professor of the Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering Department at IIT. For the next 20 years, he taught structural analysis, steel design, concrete design and architectural studio courses to architectural and civil engineering students.

With the progression of sustainability and society’s concerns about environmentally responsible design in late 1990s, Dr. Jahedi joined the movement early in the process. He became a member of U.S. Green Building Council and became a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED-AP) in Energy and Environmental Design. For the first time at Illinois Institute of Technology, he created and taught a course in the Principle of Sustainable Design and LEED requirements to his architectural and engineering students.

With Dr. Jahedi’s dynamic leadership and infinite knowledge, Dome Designer, Inc. continues to thrive specially in design and construction of many iconic Islamic Community Centers.
